PANJIM: Albert Developers continued their good run with a fluent 8-1 win over Cortalim Villagers Sports and Welfare Association in the Goa Football Association Second Division League play-off matches played at Ella ground, on Saturday.
Albert Developers started the match on attacking front but despite all their efforts, they couldn’t get the acts right in front of the goal.
However, Cortalim Villagers took the lead early in the game from the spot. Albert Developers’ Viraj found himself guilty of pulled back the rival player in the box and the referee made no hesitation to point towards the spot. Clinton stepped over and coolly converted from the spot.
The goal came as a blow to Albert Developers who went all out and scored two quick goals to make it 2-1. First, Saiesh’s shot from distance was deflected into the goal and then it was Brinson, who scored the second as they led 2-1 at the break.
Crossing over, it was all Albert Developers affair as they scored at regular intervals. Gaurav scored two goals before Ronil Azavedo netted the fifth with a briakkint curling shot from outside the box to make it 5-1.
The star player Gaurav deservingly recorded his hat-trick making it 6-1 and later substitute Deeptesh scored with his first touch when he tapped in from close after being fed by Ronil.
Cortalim has a rare chance to reduce the deficit but Viraj made amends to his earlier foul with a superb goal line clearance to deny Cortalim any more goals.
In the final quarter, Saiesh put the final nail in the coffin to round off the rally to 8-1.
Meanwhile in another match at Raia ground, Sao Jose de Areal recorded an easy 3-0 win over Candolim Sports Club. Alvito Moura was the highlight for the team from South Goa as the lad scored a fine hat-trick.
The winners led 1-0 at the breather as Alvito scored two more goals in the second half to complete his hat-trick.
