AGASSAIM: Albert Developers humiliated Kevnem Sports Club 6-0 in the Goa Football Association’s Third Division League (Ilhas Zone) match, played at Agassaim ground, on Wednesday.
Kevnem Sports Club marshalled by Tanmai Gawas started the match on an attacking note with Sailesh Kumar and Philip Parvis making runs on the flanks while Tulshan Gauns made moves from the front.
After a dozen of missed chances at the goal, Kevnem SC seemed to have finally found the breakthrough in the 32nd minute when Philip made the run from the right flank and passed on the ball to Tulshan who was lurking in the rival citadel.
The striker managed to get the ball at the back of the net but was flagged offside to his dismay.
Taken aback by what seemed to be a lucky escape, Albert Developers then regrouped and started to press on the rival defenders and were soon awarded with a free kick after Kevnem’s Aniket Kuttikar brought the rival striker down.
Megan Silveira stepped up in the 38th minute and guided the ball home as he hit the ball in the top netting to take his team ahead.
Albert Developers got on with their momentum and struck again in the injury time of the first half when Shankar Gaunde sent in a beautiful ball from the right flank to Abhyuday Sabharwal who smashed the ball into the nets to make it 2-0.
At half-time the scores read 2-0 in favour of Albert Developers.
Post resumption, Albert Developers started off from where they left and soon netted yet another goal increasing their lead in the 51st minute through Jolitan Fernandes’ strike.
With Albert Developers dominating the proceedings, Kevnem SC relied mostly on counter attacks and had a couple of chances at the goal but their strikers fumbled in the end.
Just when it seemed that the Kevnem side would reduce the margin Albert Developers’ Jolitan scored again in the 78th minute before Joel Fernandes scored a screamer in the 84th to take the tally to 5-0.
Frazer Braganza drove the final nail into the coffin in the 88th minute for Albert Developers.
