CUNCOLIM: Cuncolim Union Goa will hold their 2017 edition of the All-India Volleyball tournament from May 2-6 and will see a participation of six teams and several international players who have played for India at both junior as well as senior level will be participating in the competition.
“We constantly remind people and the authorities that this great sport was next only to football in popularity once upon a time. They should awaken and revive the tradition.” Chairman of the organising committee Elvis Gomes said.
The first match will be played between Cuncolim Union and ONGC Dehradum, in Group A, the opening day will also see a Group B fixture between Haryana Police and Punjab Police.
The winners of the tournament will pocket a prize money of Rs 1,00,000 along with the trophy while the runners-up will get a Rs 75,000. A third place finish will receive Rs 40,000.
