Almeida HS chess champs

PANJIM: Almeida High School, Ponda won the School Championship in the 6th SRS Ponda Taluka level chess tournament, organized by SRS Computer Services, Ponda at Desai Pratishthan Hall, Wagle High School, Mangeshi. Wagle High School, Mangeshi bagged the second place while SS Samiti's IVBD High School finished third.

PANJIM: Almeida High School, Ponda won the School Championship in the 6th SRS Ponda Taluka level chess tournament, organized by SRS Computer Services, Ponda at Desai Pratishthan Hall, Wagle High School, Mangeshi. 
Wagle High School, Mangeshi bagged the second place while SS Samiti’s IVBD High School finished third. 
In a tough competition, Milind  Gauns from Almeida HS scored  8.5 points and bagged the first place in individual category. 
Gaurav Madkaikar with eight points secured second place and Akash Chodankar with 7.5 points secured the third place.
Fourth to 15th  place were secured by Soham Naik, Digjay Gaude, Nandan Sakordekar, Yogiraj Sangaokar, Sadichcha Naik, Mohit Khandeparkar, Saurabh Prabhu, Aston Dias, Abhijit Prabhu, Sohan Nageshkar, Apurva Naik and Aniket Prabhu respectively.
To encourage students from village schools, consolation prizes were awarded to Adinath  Shirodkar (Swami  Vivekanand  HS, Borim), Rutik Gaude (MIBK HS, Khandepar), Vivek  Singh (Dada Vaidya High School, Curti), Sanket  Naik (School  of  Symbiosis, Shiroda),Gurudas Jalmi (Shiksha  Sadan School, Priol)  and  Rudraksh  Shilkar (Swastik  Vidyalaya, Priol).
A total of 181 students from 18 different schools from Ponda taluka participated.
Sandesh Naik was the co-ordinator while Amogh  Namshiker  was  the chief arbiter. 
Chief guest   Director of Transport Arun Desai and guest of  honour  Headmistress of Wagle High School Mitasha Aigal gave away the prizes and certificates.
Earlier, Sagar Sakordekar, managing director of SRS Computers welcomed. 
Archana Tendulkar compered while Radha Sakordekar, chief faculty of SRS Computers proposed the vote of thanks. 
Anand Kurtikar, Jaywant  Hammanavar, Gautami  Chodankar, Dr Jayashree Madkaikar, Vatan Kuncolienkar, Reshma Hasmani and Kalpita Verekar were  instrumental for the success of the tournament.
