MAPUSA: Sporting Clube de Goa hammered Goa United Sports Academy 7-0 in GFA’s U-14 First Division football league match at Don Bosco ground, Panjim, on Wednesday. Sporting Clube led 2-0 at the breather.
Aman Govekar was the hero of the day with a blistering hat-trick, with goals coming in the 13th, 18th and 50th minutes. Stendly Fernandes scored the fourth goal with five minutes to go for the final whistle. Aaron Albert registered a quick brace in the final minutes before Nikhil Correia joined the party. This was Sporting Clube’s third successive victory in as many games while their opponents are yet to open their account.
Sporting Clube started attackingly with skipper Malcom’s effort missing the mark narrowly in the fifth minute followed by Stendly’s long ranger being blocked by rival keeper Shaunak Narvekar. They surged ahead in the 13th minute as striker Aman finished with a deft placement. Five minutes later, Aman had another as he cleverly chipped over the rival keeper.
Goa United tried hard to get back into the match but their striker Domnic Miranda and Aaron Fernandes were tightly marked by the Sporting Clube defence.
Changing over, Sporting Clube continued in the same fashion as unstoppable Aman registered his hat-trick in the 50th minute. Aman unleashed a venomous shot from just inside the box which gave no chance to substitute rival keeper Irfan Nasir, who had come in place of Shaunak.
With five minutes to go for the final whistle, Stendly scored the fourth with a hot-blooded strike. It was not yet over for Sporting as they pumped in three more goals before the final whistle through Nikhil and Aaron’s quick brace.
