MARGAO: Ambelim Sports Club prevailed over Cuncolim Union 5-4 via the tie-breaker to storm into the semi-finals of All-Goa Chinchinim Villagers Venturas International Network Silver Jubilee Cup inter-village football tournament organized by Union of Chinchinim Villagers, at church ground, Chinchinim, on Monday.
Both the teams were locked in a goalless draw at the end of regulation period.
The teams started on an aggressive mode, as a result there were few thrills at either end. Both had equal number of scoring chances but their forwards squandered chances.
Crossing over, the teams were desperate for a win and it was evident in the manner in which they resumed. They had many openings but failed to score.
In the ensuing tie-breaker, Primson Fernandes, Michael, Samson Fernandes, Richard Fernandes and Menino were on target for Ambelim Sports Club while Connie Pedro, Velly, Prisson and Jeromino Fernandes converted for Cuncolim Union.
