SIRLIM: Ambelim Sports Club defeated Don Bosco Oratory, Fatorda 2-0 to emerge champions of the 22nd Our Lady of Merces 8-a-side inter-village football tournament organised by Sirlim Sports Club and played at Church ground, Chinchinim recently.
Denson Fernandes gave Ambelim SC the lead in the 4th minute.
In the second session Samson Fernandes doubled the lead in the 44th minute. The winners were richer by 40,000 and a trophy while DBO had to be content with Rs 35,000.
Chief guest Sucorro Coutinho gave away the prizes to the winners and runners-up in the presence of of Fr Jose Antonio Da Costa, ex-international player Maria Rebello, Fr Menino Vales and GFA’s Vice President Anthony Pango.
