RAIA: Ambelim Sports Club advanced into the semi-finals with a hard-fought 4-2 victory over Don Bosco Oratory, Fatorda, in the 25th All-Goa Our Lady of Merces 8-a-side inter-village football tournament organised by Sirlim Sports Club at the Chinchinim Church ground, on Thursday.
Both teams started the match on an aggressive pace. Don Bosco Oratory took an early lead in the 12th minute through Roque Colaco.
However, Ambelim SC responded quickly, with Aruino Fernandes equalising in the 18th minute to make it 1-1. By the 28th minute, Lester Fernandes’ powerful volley gave Ambelim SC a 2-1 lead, which they held onto until the half-time.
In the second half, Ambelim SC continued their attacking strategy, with Semson Fernandes extending the lead to 3-1 in the 42nd minute. Don Bosco Oratory managed to reduce the deficit shortly afterward, making it 3-2. Later, Semson sealed the victory for Ambelim SC with a stunning curling free-kick in the 48th minute, bringing the final score to 4-2.
Ambelim Sports Club will meet Fr Agnel YC, Paroda, on August 12.
