RAIA: Ambelim SC came from behind to stun Sporting Club of Davorlim 2-1 to enter the quarter-finals of the Cavelossim Villagers UK Cup organised by Santa Cruz Club of Cavelossim at Fr Druston and Wellington ground, Cavelossim, on Monday.
In a match dominated by attacking soccer, it was Paxton Gomes of SC Davorlim, who tested Ambelim SC keeper Ivan D’Silva, who tipped over the ball to safety. Ambelim SC immediately hit back when Samson controlled a cross from Parryson and shot into the goal from six yards but SC Davorlim keeper affected an blind save to keep his slate clean.

However, in the 20 minute, Abhay Shetty drew first blood for SC Davorlim when in a misunderstanding Ambelim SC keeper failed to collect a free ball in the goal area which was pounced by Abhay to put SC Davorlim 1-0 up.
Minutes later, winger Perryson of Ambelim SC crossed the ball from the left flank to Velroy Rebello, whose first time shot beat Francisco under SC Davorlim crossbar to restore parity.
In the second half, both teams missed a galore of chances and as the match was heading for the tie-breaker Gileston of Ambelim SC lobbed the ball into the crowded goal area of SC Davorlim and in a goalmouth melee Samson tapped the ball into SC Davorlim’s goal to seal a well-deserved win for Ambelim SC.
