PANJIM: Ambelim SC and SCC Cavelossim entered the semi-finals of the Goa Football Association State Futsal Championship, after winning their respective Group B matches at Chowgule Futsal Arena, on Monday.
Ambelim thumped Goa Velha SC 8-0 while SCC Cavelossim earned their win over Panjim Footballers with a 5-1 scoreline. It was SCC Cavelossim who played the first match of the day. Needing a win to qualify for both the teams, SCC Cavelossim were stunned by Panjim Footballers when their keeper Preston Rego scored with a fierce strike. However, SCC Cavelossim took 13 minutes to level terms and it was Suraj Bahadur scoring the leveller.
Panjim received a major blow when their player Allan was sent off for double bookings.
SCC Cavelossim soon inflated their lead in the next minute through Clencio Pinto. Klusner Pereira added two more with Bersal Viegas also scripting his name on the scoresheet.
In the second match of the day, For Ambelim SC Ronaldo Pereira and Domnic Soares scored a brace each and Sachin Patil, Stephen Colaco, Kevin Almeida and Lyndon Cardozo were the other goal scorers as they totally overpowered Goa Velha, who earlier put up a strong fight in the first half.
In the first semifinals, Sporting Clube de Goa will clash against SCC Cavelossim while Ambelim SC will take on Sirvodem SC in the second semis. Both semifinals will be played today.
