PANJIM: American Pie, Zuari defeated Galaxy United, Chimbel, 2-1, to enter the quarter-finals of London Cup football tournament organised by Siridao Boys at River Plate Siridao Sports Club ground on Saturday.
The Zuari team pressured the Chimbel defence right from the word go
But failed to beat the brilliant Chimbell keeper. In the 30th minute, Sherwin’s power packed shot propelled American Pie into the lead. They maintained the lead at half time.
In the 2nd half, Chimbel started in earnest and tried their best to equalizer, Sandeep tried to inspire his and did so in the 20th minute as he slotted home after a delightful cross.
Both teams upped the ante in search of a win but luck was on the Zuari side as Babush fired in a shot from outside the box but it deflected of a Chimbel defender and looped into the goal.
