PORVORIM: Amey Shetye has been selected for the Indian Baseball Team which will be participating in the XIV West Asia Baseball championship which will be held from July 15 to 20, in Colombo, Sri Lanka.
The final coaching camp for the Indian team will be held from June 28 to July 12 at Laxmibai College, Ashok Vihar, New Delhi.
Amey Shetye, a resident of Porvorim is currently studying B.PEd at Don Bosco College, Panjim.
Amey’s baseball journey started from Vidya Prabhodini under the guidance of his PE teacher Vilas Palkar. Amey was later trained under the SAG baseball coaches Kailash Gaonkar and Dinesh Gaude.
He is the permanent member of Goa team. He also represented in 4 sub-junior nationals, 5 junior nationals and 5 senior nationals. He was the Captain of the U-19 Goa baseball team which won gold medal. He was the part of Goa team which won the 29th Senior Baseball National Championship.
The tournament will be played in round-robin format.
Amey will be leaving Goa on June 26.
Besides hosts Sri Lanka India, Pakistan, Iran, Nepal and Bangladesh will participate in the five-day tournament.
The final will played on July 20.
