AGENCIES, SENTA: FM Audi Ameya put up an excellent performance to clinch “The 23rd Battle of Senta Open Chess A Championship, 2019”, held at Senta, Serbia, recently.
The former Common Wealth Silver Medallist U-18, displayed fine tempo and consistency, as he beat IM Nestorovic Dejan of Serbia, IM Nomin Erdene Davaaademberel of Mongolia, WFM Nesterovic Irena of Serbia.
Ameya drew with IM Rogac Srdjan and FM Zegarac Vuk.
He defeated other Serbian players Solymosi Andras, Nagy Attila N and Plet Akos.
Ameya lost to GM Drasic Sinisa, in round 5, which did not deter him from making a strong comeback.
Ameya had 6 wins and 2 draws to tally 7 points out of possible 9 rounds, finishing ahead of the IM’s and GM’s and an excellent rating performance of 2472.
Ameya was awarded the Championship Trophy and a gold medal.
This is Ameya’s second International Championship.
