Ameya dazzles at chess tourney

PANJIM: Ameya Audi of Salcete Taluka won the Unique All-Goa Open Rapid Chess Tournament, organised by Unique Chess Academy, Margao, at Lingayat hall, Margao, recently.

PANJIM: Ameya Audi of Salcete Taluka won the Unique All-Goa Open Rapid Chess Tournament, organised by Unique Chess Academy, Margao, at Lingayat hall, Margao, recently. 
Total 110 players participated in the event, including 46 FIDE rated players.
On the top board in the final round, Ameya outplayed G Madhavan of Tiswadi Taluka to win the title. On the second board, Datta Kambli defeated Aditee Prabhugaonkar to settle for the second place.
Nandini Saripalli secured the third spot while Aditee Prabhugaonkar finished fourth. Saiesh Audi, Kuncolienkar Shivank, G Madhvan, Shetty Sahil, Vernekar Ridhikesh, Kakodkar Sachin, Morajkar Navin and Chopdekar Gunjal finished in the fifth to 12th places respectively. 
The age group prizes were awarded to U-7 Joy Kakodkar, Love Kakodkar, U-9 Rodrigues Jugan, Colaco Rubien, U-11 Chopdekar Gunjal, Om Barde, U-13 Khan Faiziya, Rudresh Fadte, U-15 Saish Fondekar, Anurag Chari.
The Unique Chess Academy’s best players were awarded to Sanat Borkar, Devesh Naik and Kunal Bandolkar.
The prizes were given by chief guest Kishor Bandekar, Secretary of Goa Chess Association and Joint Secretary of AICF in the presence of Ashesh Keni, President of Salcete Taluka Chess Association; Ramdas Sawant, Treasurer of Goa Chess Association; Chief Arbiter Swapnil Hoble, SAG coach Sanjay Kavlekar. Damodar Zambaulikar compered.
