Ameya gets podium finish in Slovakia chess

PANJIM: International Master Audi Ameya finished sixth in Slovakia Chess Open A Piestany championship in Slovakia.

Ameya defeated IM Kosakowski Jakub (Poland), FM Farkus Gabur (SVK), AIM Nagarkatte Vedant (India), WIM Rakshitta Ravi(India),  and drew with GM Livaic Leon (CRO), GM Acgel Gergely(Hun), IM Sahidi Samir (SVK) and FM Anand Batsukh (MGL). Ameya had 4 wins and 4 draws to tally 6 out of possible 9 rounds.

Ameya was the championship contender until round 8, when he suffered a loss in the final round against the first seed GM Pechac Jergus(SVK) and had to settle for the 6th place. Ameya put up a rating performance of 2526

There were in all, 74 players from 21 different countries.
