Ameya wins chess title

PANJIM: The 16-year old Audi Ameya, student of RMS College, Margao, emerged champion at the U-25 State Chess Championship.

Organized by the Pedne Taluka Chess Association (PTCA) in association with the Sarvajanik Ganesh Mandal, under the auspices of the Goa State Chess Association, at Harmal, Pedne, on Friday.
The second seed Audi Ameya won all the six rounds followed by Nandini and Niraj Saripalli with five points, while Diukar Tushar, Gaude Sachin and Bhonsle Gayatri were tied on 4.5 points and had to settle for the fourth to sixth places respectively. 
Peroz Brendon and Audi Saiesh who were on four points won the seventh and eighth places respectively.
Harmal village level winners were Akshay Majji, Shrinish Korkankar and Suraj Redkar.
The first four players will represent Goa at the Nationals to be held from October 13 to 19, in Bihar.
The tournament was inaugurated in presence of ZP Arun Bankar, Dipak Kalangutkar ex-ZP, Harmal Ganesh mandal president Pradip Naik and PTCA chairmen Prabhakar Shetye. 
The prize distribution was held in the presence of Kishor Bandekar, general secretary of Goa Chess Association, Harmal Sarpanch Pranali Vaigankar, PTCA secretary Subhash Parsekar and other dignitaries. Arvind Mhamal was the Chief Arbitor.
