MAPUSA: Dempo Sports Club have boosted their squad ahead of the Federation Cup with the signing of Zohib Izlamo Amiri from Mumbai Football Club on Friday.
Amiri led Afghanistan to a 2-0 victory over India in the SAFF Cup 2013 and was also voted the FPAI Fans’ Player of the Year for the 2012-13 season in India.
A versatile and strong centerback, Amiri can also play as a holding midfielder.
Amiri had joined Mumbai FC in 2011 where he made 40 appearances, scoring 11 goals.
This was Dempo SC’s second signing in three days time after Australian striker Tolgay Ozbey put pen to paper on Wednesday.
