Andrew Teodosio strike helps Marc Caterers clinch veterans football title

BENAULIM: Marc Caterers Nuvem recorded a hard fought 1-0 win over United Club Fatorda Veterans to lift the 17th V M Salgaocar Memorial Veterans Soccer Tournament, organised by Prime Sports Club and being played at St John the Baptist ground, Danddo Benaulim.

Striker Andrew Teodosio early strike proved to be the winner for Marc Caterers..
The final began on a bang and before Fatorda could get the feel of the ball, Marc Caterers struck early in the 3rd minute when striker Andrew Teodosio made the opportunity count by slamming the loose ball into the nylons following a corner kick by Anthony Patieu. The goal silenced the Fatorda fans and despite the continued drizzle Fatorda fought back and made inroads but striker Mithun Carvalho was well policed by rival defender Baptist D’Mello and Rafiq Bepari.
In the second session, Nuvem were in more possession with playmaker Marcus Carvalho and Mathew Costa working tirelessly in the midfield but upfront Francisco Vodlo and Seby Vaz were unable to consolidate the lead. Fatorda in the last quarter visually camped in the rival area but Menino Miranda and Remedios Barretto efforts were saved by rival goalkeeper Camilo Barretto. 
Nuvem Defender, Baptist D’Mello, Nana Borkar, Rafiq Bepari had to work overtime to protect their slender lead and gave their team the glittering trophy.
Marc Caterers, Nuvem were richer by Rs 25,000 and trophy while United Cub of Fatorda Veterans had to be content with Rs 20,000 and a trophy.
