PANJIM: Aniket Gaonkar emerged champion at the chess tournament for Hearing Impaired children organised by Lions Club of Ponda in association with Ponda Taluka Chess Association (PTCA) at Lokvishwas Pratishthan, Dhavali, on Wednesday.
Secretary, PTCA Amogh Namshiker was the Chief Arbiter of the tournament.
Alfaz Shaikh, Vipul Gaude, Krishna Gawas, Ruchita Sutar, Deepali Gaonkar, Sunay Velip and Sanket Kothambikar secured 2nd to 8th place respectively.
The certificates and trophies were distributed at the hands of Sagar Sakordekar (President, PTCA), Sudesh Borkar (President, Lions Club of Ponda), Amogh Namshiker (Chief Arbiter), Shekhar Mandurkar (Secretary, Lions Club of Ponda), Shobha Tendulkar (Headmistress, Hearing Impaired section, Lokvishwas Pratishthan), Anand Naik, Swira Bale and Nutan Naik.
Shobha Tendulkar welcomed and proposed the vote of thanks.
