PANJIM: A last minute goal by Aniket Gawade saved the match for GFDC Marcel as they drew 2-2 against GFDC Corlim in the Vodafone GFDC Rising Star Football festival match at Montfort ITI ground, Corlim, recently.
GFDC Corlim were quick to consolidate in the match as Abhishek scored in the 10th minute. Throughout the first half, Corlim were aggressive and did not give much chance to the visiting team.
In the second half, Abhishek Satam again scored for Corlim thus giving his side 2-0 lead. But the game turned around in the last five minutes as GFDC Marcel scored two quick goals. The first goal for Marcel was scored by Yash Gawas. The last minute equalizer was scored by Aniket Gawade with a 25-yard effort.
Abhishek was adjourned Player of the Match.
Results at other centres are as follows: at Aldona ground in the U-10 boys match, GFDC Aldona beat GFDC Moira 3-1 with a fine hat-trick from Samuel Pinto while Moira reduced the margin through Francis Behera. The Player of the Match went to Samuel Pinto.
In the U-13 boys match, GFDC Aldona beats Moira 3-1. Aldona scored through Ravi Rai, Claton Alvares and Aryan Parwar while Yuvraj Naik was the scorer for Moira. Player of the Match award went to Ravi Rai.
