MARGAO: Anshuman Agarwal who is in fine form this season was poised for a double crown, at the All Goa Major Ranking Table Tennis Tournament organized by BPS Sports Club, Margao, at BPS Hall premises.
The top seed who won a bronze medal at the UTT National Ranking (South Zone) Table Tennis Championships in Thiruvananthapuram recently will clash with Nagesh Verenker in the Junior boys singles finals while his opponent in the Sub Junior boys finals will be Shantesh Mapsekar. Both Anshuman and Nagesh registered straight sets wins in their respective Junior boys semi finals matches.
Jayz Gomes gave Anshuman few tough moments, but lost in three close games. In the other semis, Nagesh Verenker displayed a mix of aggression and control to down Shantesh Mapsekar with a comfortable 3-0 score-line.
The sub junior boys semi finals between Anshuman Agarwal and Nagesh Verenker was a thriller of a match with the former prevailing to a 3-2 win. Shantesh Mapsekar cruised past Aarav Aiyar in the other semis with an easy 3-0 win.
