MARGAO, APRIL 18 Sao Jose de Areal Sports Club prevailed over Chandor Club 6-5 via the sudden-death to move into the semi-finals of 12th All-Goa Immaculate Conception Football Festival organised by Immaculate Conception Sports Club at Avedem panchayat ground, Paroda on Sunday.

Sao Jose de Areal Sports Club prevailed over Chandor Club 6-5 via the sudden-death to  move into the semi-finals of 12th All-Goa Immaculate Conception Football Festival organised by Immaculate Conception Sports Club  at Avedem  panchayat ground, Paroda on Sunday. The teams were locked goalless at the end of the normal period of play.
Chandor enjoyed a slight edge over Areal in the opening session but missed a couple of chances as their forwards ran out of ideas on reaching the rival danger zone. Djon Fernandes muffed a sitter with only the rival goalkeeper at his mercy.
Changing over, Areal nearly found the match-winner but Fredrick Endro blasted wide from hand-shaking distance.
In the ensuing tie-breaker, Fredrick Endro, Mariano Rebello, Franky Valladares, Avron Travasso and Mario Barretto were on target for Areal while Glimson Rodrigues, Djon Fernandes, Danny Peixoto, Sammy Dias and Suraj Zambodkar converted for Chandor. In the sudden-death Luis Barretto netted for Areal while Moura failed to score for Chandor.
