Sao Jose de Areal Sports Club trounced Sports and Welfare Club of Zaino, Velim 8-0 to storm into the semi-finals of GFA Third Division play-off at Curtorim ground, on Wednesday. Sao Jose led 3-0 at the break.
Sao Jose dominated the game from the start and outplayed their opponents in all departments, with their forwards making merry of the rival weak defence.
Ozie Fernandes drew first blood in the fifth minute. Spurred by early success, Sao Jose mounted pressure on the rival citadel with sporadic raids. Mario Barretto doubled the lead in the 20th minute. Agie Antao made it 3-0 in the 24th minute.
Crossing over, the Zaino lads surrender their challenge meekly. Ozie Andrade completed his brace in the 51st minute.
Alleulia Fernandes made it 5-0 in the 65th minute. Merwyn D’Costa pumped two more goals and also his brace in the 82nd and 85th minutes respectively.
Francis Valadares hit the last nail into the Zaino coffin in the 90th minute.
