MARGAO: Arlem Youth Association downed Sporting Club of Davorlim 2-0 to cruise into the semi final of 37th All Goa St Joseph Festival inter village football tournament organized by Dramapur Sports Club at Dramapur ground, Raia on Monday.
Arlem Youth led 1-0 at the breather .
Arlem Youth Association held an upper hand in both the sessions and had a couple of chances to snatch the lead but their forwards wayward shooting from from ideal positions cost them a price.
After couple of misses, Arlem Youth Association struck the rhythm and broke the deadlock in the 32nd minute when striker Sheldon D’Souza slotted past the rival goalkeeper off well measured pass from Wilfred Gomes .
A lot was expected from Sporting Club of Davorlim to make an impact but their forwards were denied any space by rival defenders with tight marking.
Post resumption, Arlem Youth Association came out with purpose and swarmed all over the rival territory and scored the insurance in the 50th minute when Joston Barbosa beat the rival goalkeeper with snap shot off a long pass from Mauricio Dias. Earlier Mauricio Dias rasping volley miss the mark narrowly.
Despite their desperate attempts, Sporting Club of Davorlim could not notch the reducer in the dying minutes.
