POINGUINIM:Arnav Phaldesai, Srushti Painginkar, Shounak Painginkar, Srujal Painginkar, Clevron Fernandes, Stella Dias emerged vicorious in their victorious categories of the VII Canacona Taluka open Table Tennis tournament organised by Canacona Sports Academy, at Shradhanand Vidyalaya, Poinguinim, recently.
In the A– 17 category, Arnav beat last year’s winner Viraj Puranik 3-2 while Simon Fernandes of S S Angle won third place after defeating Kishor Shenavi, Paingin 3 – 1.
In the girls category, Srushti of S.S. Angle edged past Shruti Painginkar 3–2. The third place was secured by Shrujal by beating Yukta Prabhu 3–1.
In the U-17 category, Shounak won the first place after leaving Akshay Namshikar blank 3– 0. The third place was won by Fraser D’Souza after getting the better of Ancel Fernandes 3 – 1.
In girls section, Shrujal beat Srushti Painginkar 3 –1.
In the U–14 boys’ category, Clevron of St. Anthony HS won the first place against Illen Viegas 3–0. The third place was secured by Joel Dias who edged past Mayur Bhagat 3– 2.
In the girls’ category, Stella won the first place after defeating Valisha Rebello 3 – 1. Siona Dias settled for third place by beating Sejal Velip 3–0.
The chief guest was Pravir Bhandari, Panch of Paingin Panchayat and gave away the prizes to the winners and runners-up in the presence of Sharendra Naik , Durgesh Prabhugaonkar and other dignitaries.
