MAPUSA: A two-goal blitz by Aryan Lingudkar enabled Super Goans FC to edge past Salcete FC 2-1 to enter the finals of GFA’s Boys Under-13 Second Division league match at Monte de Guirim ground, on Sunday.
The teams put up their best display knowing what was at stake. It was a contest for supremacy between the North and South Goa giants.
Salcete forged ahead in add-on time of the first session with Trenton Fernandes scoring from outside the penalty box.
On resumption of play, Super Goans time and again attacked the rival citadel in search of the equaliser. Their relentless efforts bore fruit as Super Goans’ promising lad Aryan not only levelled terms in the 70th minute off an assist from Joel Passoni but in the second session add-on time scored the precious match-winning goal with a rasping left footer from outside the penalty box.
Super Goans are on a roll in the official age-group competitions which they rightly deserve given their planning and preparations based on smart work, positive attitude and perseverence with the parents of the boys playing the role of positive catalyst, under the dynamic leadership of Richard Cardoso from Saipem-Candolim.
