RAIA: Aslam Shaikh (Sanguem Warriors) and Vishlesha Kakodkar (Chandwada FC) emerged badminton champions in the men’s and women’s singles at the K32W Cup 2023 – first ever all Goan UAE badminton tournament – organised by Karama 32 Warriors under the support of Goan Connecting Goans Association, Dubai, in Dubai, recently.
The tournament featured fierce competition among Goan shuttlers comprising clubs namely Sanguem Warriors, Chandwada FC, Valpoi sports and cultural club, Unknown Virus and host Karama 32 Warriors.
The arena showcased exceptional skill and determination as players battled it out across five gripping categories – Men’s Singles, Women’s Singles, Men’s Doubles, Women’s Doubles and Mixed Doubles.
Aslam outsmarted Adil Khan (Sanguem Warriors), while Vishlesha Kakodkar outplayed Arfana Shaikh (K32 Warriors).
Other results: Men’s Doubles – Adil Khan and Faiz (Sanguem Warriors) defeated Sajid Khan and Azhar Khan (Chandwada FC). Women’s Doubles – Hifza Sayad and Sakina Shaikh (K32W) defeated Farah Shaikh and Arfana Shaikh( K32W). Mixed Doubles – Adil Khan and Sheza Khan (Sanguem Warriors) defeated Vishlesha Kakodkar and Jilan Shah (Chandwada FC).
The tournament showcased stellar performances and fierce determination from all teams, captivating spectators with thrilling matches and exemplary sportsmanship. The event highlighted not only athletic prowess but also a strong sense of community and sportsmanship among the participating teams.
The Goans Connecting Goans Association President Joseph Dias commended the efforts of K32 Warriors and encouraged the other clubs under the association to organise other similar events to keep The Goans community active and healthy in the region.
