CUNCOLIM: A brace each by Aslon Oliveira and Alviton Silva helped Sao Jose de Areal Sports Club to trounce Varca Sports Club by 5-0 to enter in the quarter-finals of the Rising Cup inter-village football tournament organised by Rising Club of Sanvorcotta, at Cuncolim school ground, Cuncolim, on Thursday.
Sao Jose de Areal club was leading by 2-0 margin at the breather. Aslon opened the scoring for Areal in the 7th minute of the match off a pass from Alviton.
Later, Alviton doubled the lead in the 28th minute off a pass received from Aston Dias.
Areal dominated the second session and scored three more goals. Aslon scored his second and team’s third goal in the 44th minute whose powerful volley beat Varca SC goalkeeper Mohammad Shaikh all hands down.
Six minutes later, Alviton scored the fourth goal off a pass from Prisco Moura while Bersas Viegas too added his name in the goal scoring list at the fag end of the match.
Joston Fernandes of Sao Jose de Areal Sports Club was adjudged as man-of-the-match.
