organized by Viva North Veterans Football Club, at the Dr Gustavo Monteiro ground, Candolim, on Monday.
Assolda scored in the very second minute of the match through Jose Rebello, whose header off a cross from Inacio beat the Parra keeper.
Hardly had the cheers died down, Assolda’s Rosario Carvalho, struck another blow for the Parra Veterans team when his solo effort found the net.
Parra, stunned by the quick reverses could not find their elements. Assolda dominated the proceedings with ball possession and scored two quick goals to take the game away from Parra.
Polly Godhino capitalized on a cross from Rosario while Jose added another one to his name with a fantastic volley.
Parra immediately effected a change in the backline with Jerry Lobo coming in for Naik. This stabilized the Parra defence and kept the Assolda marauding forwards at bay.
On crossing sides after the breather, Parra managed to salvage some pride by reducing the margin through Nilesh, with the match ending 4-1 in favour of Asolda.
Earlier, Fr Victor Rodrigues and legendary footballer Salu along with former General Manager of the Taj Hotels, Vijay Albuquerque were introduced to the teams. A minute silence was observed as a mark of respect for late Brian Mendes.
