MAPUSA: Assonora United Football Club registered a fluent 3-1 win over ABC Sports Club Arambol to book their place in the finals of the 22nd Vagator Soccer 2022 organised by Vagator Parish Youth Sports Club, at Vagator Parish Youth Sports Club Ground, Ozran, on Saturday.
Assonora United went into the breather with a three-goal cushion.
In the 16th minute, Assonora United took the lead when a through ball by Kunal Salgaonkar found Tushar Dessai who let the ball roll between the legs of the Arambol keeper Hrushikesh Kinalekar.
In the 18th minute, a penalty was awarded to Assonora United for a rough tackle on Kunal Salgaonkar in the penalty area. Kunal Salgaonkar made a calm finish from the penalty spot, making the score 2-0.
In the 25th minute a cross from Kunal Salgaonkar found Chetan Shirodkar who managed to make it 3-0 before the break.
On crossing ends, Anant Gad pulled one back for ABC Arambol in the 45th minute when he scored from a rebound woodwork shot.
In the 56th minute a shot by Pratik Kannaik was saved by the Assonora keeper Sanij Bugde.
Arambol kept knocking at the Assonora doorstep but Sanij Bugde stood tall and saw to that their team made it through to the final.
Assonora United Football Club will meet Raia Sporting Club in the final on August 7.
The man-of-the-match was awarded to Sanij Bugde of Assonora United Football Club by Winston D’souza.
