MAPUSA: Assonora United FC played their hearts out as they defeated Adarsh Yuvak Sangh 5-3 via the tie-breaker to storm into the final of the 14th All Goa late Pio Jose Goveia Memorial Cup, organised by YSC Colvale played at Colvale church ground, on Friday.
At the end of regulation time, the teams were locked 2-2.
In the 10th minute, Assonora took the lead through Gaurish Bugde with Prajot Naik making it 2-0 in the 22nd minute.
Adarsh unit came back into the match on crossing over, where in the 45th minute Adarsh pulled one back through a superb header by Micheal Dias.
Paulo Joao equalised for Adarsh in the 62nd minute with a glancing header.
In the penalty shoot-out, Assonora United won by 3-1.
The man of the match award was received by Harsh Bhagat of Assonora United FC.
Assonora United FC Now lock horns with CDJ Ribandar in the final to be played onDecember 29.
