MAPUSA: Assonora United Sports Club had an easy outing as they trounced Sinquerim Sports Club 6-0 in the GFA’s 2nd Division League, at Duler stadium, here, on Tuesday.
Assonora went into the breather with a one-goal cushion with Sudesh opening the account in the 36th minute, as he broke the off side trap and scored.
It was Sinquerim outfit that came close in breaking the deadlock where in the 13th minute a perfect cross by Sanket Pal was controlled by Vasant inside the penalty box, but the latter failed to tap the ball into the empty goal.
At the other end, Assonora too failed to find the back of the net in the 23rd minute where a long ball by Luis Miranda saw a diving header by unmarked Vishnu travel wide.
On resumption of play, Sinquerim had another chance to level terms in the 53rd minute but a weak header by Mandar off a cross by Sanket was confidently collected by Assonora keeper Siddhart Gad.
Assonora got their acts together and pumped in two quick goals in the 58th and 61st minute from a brace by Dikshay who scored with a powerful volley and the next with an adroit placement to make it 3-0.
Assonora United hunger for goals did not end as they hammered in three more goals through Siddesh Pednekar (79th min), Stephelton Fernandes(84th min) and substitute Sairaj Halankar (89th min) to make it 6-0.
