PONDA: Assonora United advanced to the semi-finals of the 34th All-Goa St Anne’s Inter-village Festival Soccer Tournament 2024 by defeating United Club of Verna with a solitary goal. The tournament, organised by Ponda Footballers and powered by Dr Bhatikar Charitable Trust & Rising, Ponda, with support from SAG, took place at the Animal Husbandry Ground in Curti-Ponda.
Sunil Desai scored the decisive goal in the second half. Both teams played an aggressive game, but the defenders on both sides stood firm. A long ball into the danger zone caught the Verna keeper off guard, and Sunil seized the opportunity, chipping the ball over the keeper to secure the match’s only goal.
