MAPUSA: Assonora United Sports Club entered the quarter-finals of the Augustias inter-village football tournament, organised by Augustias Sporting club, with a 4-2 tie-breaker win over St Anthony Sports Club, Marna, held at Pomburpa ground, here, on Saturday.
St Anthony’s Dalesh Pednekar missed a golden opportunity to take lead in the very first minute but short wide.
Pushparaj Mandrekar of St Anthony’s missed the target and later in the dying minutes goalkeeper of St Anthony’s Marna made a spectacular save to keep the score level goalless.
In the tie-breaker, Sattyam, Prajot, Sarvesh and Prajat scored for Assonora while Lavnay and Gaurav scored for St Anthony SC. Sangam and Sherwin’s short was saved by Harsh of Assonora.
Man-of-the-match was awarded to Harsh Bhagat of Assonora United at the hands of Shane Fernandes, committee member.
