Assonora United win five-goal thriller against Adarsh YS

MAPUSA: Assonora United Sports Club came from a goal down to register a hard fought 3-2 win over Adarsh Yuvak Sangh Saligao in the 7th Reis Magos Panchayat Soccer Cup, organised by stamina Cricket Club Verem, played at Verem grounds, here on Friday.

It was the Saligao colts that went into the lead in the 30th minute as Taiwan Travasso put his team ahead through a well executed free kick, 1-0.
Down by a goal, Assonora were a transformed unit on crossing over as they not only levelled terms in the 36th minute, through a power-packed shot from outside the penalty box by Milind Shinde, but scored two more goals through Prajot Arabekar placement and Rajesh Salgaonkar strike from outside the penalty box, 3-1.
Adarsh YS did try to come back into the match from a 35-yard shot from Edwin Fernandes, 3-2. But in the last quarter of the match, Assonora defence held their citadel till the final whistle to take their team into the next round.
