MAPUSA: Assonora United SC got the better of Candolim SC by 4-3 margin via the tie-breaker in the inaugural match of the 22nd Vagator Soccer 2022, organised by Vagator Parish Youth Sports Club, at Vagator Parish Youth Sports Club Ground, Ozran, on Saturday.
Both the teams had an attempt each at the rival goals early in the match.
A 35 yard short by Candolim’s striker Aniket Naik went over the crossbar. While Assonora United FC had their first attempt by Kunal Salgaonkar where Candolim keeper brought a smart save.
Finally in the 13th minute Kunak Salgaonkar opened the scoreline for Assonora as he dribled past through the defense and scored with a neat placement.
Candolim SC scored the equalizer at the half hour mark through Bahvesh Kandolkar from a cross by Jose Fernandes.
With the match ending in a 1-1 draw the tie breaker was implemented.
Kunal, Akash, Rajesh, Prajot netted for Assonora United FC while Nikhil, Melroy and Aniket converted for Candolim SC.
The man-of-the-match was awarded to Chetan Shirodkar of Assonora United FC.
