MANDREM: Assonora United edged out St Anthony Marna in a thrilling 5-4 tie-breaker victory to advance in the 2nd Rosary Cup Mandrem 2024, held at the Mandrem Village Panchayat ground. The first half ended in a goalless stalemate.
Videsh Sawant came close to scoring in the 7th minute, hitting the crossbar with a long-range shot from the 35-yard box. Assonora’s Prajat Naik broke the deadlock in the 37th minute with a well-placed goal.
St Anthony’s Prajot Fadte equalised in the 50th minute, bringing the full-time score to 1-1.
In the resultant tie-breaker, Satyam, Sunny, Vineet, and Pratik found the net for Assonora United, while Mayuresh, Pushparaj and Nethan scored for St Anthony.
Prajat Naik for Assonora United was awarded man-of-the-match from Jimmy Kuyel, Dunes Sports Club secretary.
