Assonora Utd, Milagres draw; Mandopa SC held by Nuvem

MAPUSA: Assonora United Sports Club surrendered their one goal lead to split points with Milagres Sports Club after a 1-1 draw in the 6th round league match of the GFA’s 2nd Division league match played at Duler Stadium, here on Monday.

The opening goal was scored in the 7th minute when Stepelton sent a floater into the Milagres danger zone which was guided into the net by Dakshay to put Assonora into the lead, 1-0.

Couple of minutes later Milagres had two opportunities to restore parity, however, in the 11th minute Mohammad Aga faltered from handshaking distance and then Valito Miranda’s header off Danish free-kick missed the target by a whisker.

Minutes before the halftime whistle, Prajyot got hold of Siddesh’s pass but faltered when it mattered most.

Changing over. Assonora keeper affected two back to back saves to keep Siddhart from getting the ball into the back of the net.

At the other end Milagres managed to score the equaliser when Salim Khan made a run into the rival camp before firing the ball home, 1-1.

Assonora almost came with the winning goal in the 66th minute however Kanaya’s shot struck the horizontal bar to the dismay of his teammates.

In the 15th minute, Nuvem Sports Club struck first through Myron Borges. However their joy was short-lived as Mandopa Sporting, who were constantly raiding the rival territory finally found the equaliser in the 26th minute through their talisman, Travis Souza levelling the scores, 1-1 at half-time.

Crossing over, though the teams played exhilarating football, neither side could convert their chances in the regulation time.
