PANJIM: Assumpta Convent High School, Chinchinnim edged pass St. Joseph’s Educational Institute, Chandor 3-2 in a junior league match of the Reliance Foundation Youth Sports Football tournament at the Ambelim ground, on Thursday.
Asumpta drew first blood in the 11th minute and doubled through Nigel Fernandes as they went into the break 2-0.
St Joseph’s bounced back when Chatan struck in the 39th minute, but that was not before Chadel hammered home Assumpta’s insurance goal in the 47th while Chatan scored a late consolation.
In other matches, two goals from Fedrich Fernandes helped Immaculate Conception High School, Curchorem, hold St. Xavier’s, Velim 3-3.
Goals from Joswel Cardozo in the 23rd minute and Maxwell Furtado in the 61st minute gave Our Lady of Rosary High School, Margao a 2-0 win over Our Lady Mother of the Poor High School, Quepem.
