PANJIM: Atharv Nadkarni and Anushka Hammanavar clinched the titles in the under-16 and under-14 categories in the finals of 8th Ponda taluka level table tennis tournament organised by Shree Mangirish Vidyadayini Samstha, Mangeshi and Wagle High School Golden Jubilee Celebration Committee at Desai Pratishthan Hall, Wagle High School, Mangeshi, recently.
In the U-16 boys, Aniket Naik bagged the second place while third place by Vandit Mardolkar and Piyush Chakraborty.
In the U-14 girls, Kumud Bongale finished second.
In the U-12 boys, first three winners were Vedant Prabhugaonkar, Krishnam Gaonkar and Nitchay Mote and Soham Gaude.
In the above 14 girls, Manjita Khedekar and Mabel Da’Costa finished first and second.
Amey Naik and Mangesh Sakordekar bagged the first two places in the men’s category.
Sandeep Pagi, PE teacher and chief referee of the tournament was felicitated by chief guest Dr Narayan Desai, educationist and former principal of Higher Secondary School, Mashem; for his dedicated services to table tennis for last eight years.
Earlier, Audhuth Kamat welcomed the gathering while Mitasha Aigal, headmistress of Wagle High School introduced the chief guest.
Sudan Kunkolienkar and Damodar Naik were also present.
Altogether, 229 players took part. Sagar Sakordekar compered. Later, Sanjay Nadkarni proposed a vote of thanks.
