RAIA: UC Benaulim edged past Benaulim Veterans 3-1 to move ahead in the 1st Benaulim village inter-ward football organised by Cana-Benaulim Village Panchayat at SAG ground, Vaddie-Benaulim, on Friday.
Thanks to a stellar performance by Austin D’Silva, who scored a hat-trick for UC Benaulim.
The game kicked off with UC Benaulim immediately going on the offensive. Midfielders Clifford and Lyndon displayed excellent coordination, leading to the first goal as Austin D’Silva’s precise shot found the back of the net.
The first half concluded with UC Benaulim leading 1-0. After the lemon break, Benaulim Veterans attempted to dominate but struggled against the youthful energy of UC Benaulim.
Austin quickly added two more goals solidifying their lead. Despite a valiant effort, Benaulim Veterans managed only a consolation goal through Luis Menin.
Austin was deservedly awarded man-of-the-match by Sarpanch Xavier Pereira for his outstanding hat-trick, capping a memorable and joyous win for UC Benaulim.
