PANJIM: Darwin and Dattaprasad defeated Merwyn and Patrick 15-14, 12-15, 15-11 in the Masters 40+ men’s doubles outdoor floodlit badminton finals organised by Creative People’s Sports and Cultural Club, Bondir, Santa Cruz.
Avduth and Nadaf defeated Prenoy and Brian 15-11, 15-9 within 13 minutes, to emerge champions in men’s doubles category.
In Veterans semi-finals, Darwin and Dattaprasad defeated Navin and Bushan 14-15, 15-11, 15-7 in a closely contested match while Merwyn and Patrick defeated Mahesh and Kishore 15-9, 15-14.
Avduth and Nadaf defeated Prenoy and Brian 15/11, 15/9 in 13 minutes in the men doubles finals. In the semis, local favourites Prenoy and Brian defeated Roshan and Navin 15-7, 15-14 and Avduth and Nadaf from Siolim defeated Kiefer and Cifert from Canacona 15-7, 15-8.
MLA Rudolf Fernandes was the Chief Guest. Media personality Shailendra Metha was the Guest of Honour.
The 9-day festival saw some of the top Goan teams participating in the event held in two categories.
