NAVELIM: Ave Maria Athelitic and Walkers Club edged past Verna SC 1-0 in the GFA U-14 play-off match played at Rosary ground, Navelim on Saturday.
Wilson Baa of Ave Maria – an upcoming lad had the best chance to score in the 5th minute but his ground shot was easily saved by Riswon Carvalho, goalkeeper of Verna.
Aston Rodrigues of Ave Maria was dominating his department and made two good goal scoring attempts in the tenth and thirteen minutes. However on both the occasions the rival goalkeeper made brilliant saves to keep the striker at bay.
Defender Clydson Rodrigues of Ave Maria, crossed the ball inside Verna box but Siol Mascarenhas, defender of Verna headed for clearance which went to Ave Maria’s Mehoob Hubli’s path who was prowling inside Verna box. Mehboob rose high and headed to supply the ball to Mohammed Shobi Mansoori who calmly tapped the ball home to score the solitary goal for Ave Maria in the 32nd minute.
At Curtorim, United Boys of Palolem SC failed to turn up to play against Salgaocar FC.
