Avni sets up summit clash with Tvisha in U-14 girls

MARGAO: Thirteen-year-old Avni Lotlikar advanced into the final to set up a title clash against Tvisha in the U-14 girls category of Baale BPS Open 2024 played at BPS Sports Club court, here, on Friday. 

Avni, student of Manovikas English Medium School defeated Ahana Kumar in two straight sets 4-1, 4-3, while Tvisha beat Saanj without losing a single game 4-0, 4-0.  

Tania, Simran and Poojal also advanced to semi-finals of the State ranking tournament, defeating Vidhi 6-1, Liza 6-1 and Tvisha 6-4 respectively, in the ladies singles category. 

In another round match in the same category, Anna beat Hazel 6-0. 

Santosh/Raju beat Akhil S/Raoul 6-2, Jai/Chinmay beat Darsh/Pankaj 7-5, Rahul/Ehrlick beat Sreenath/Deepak 6-1 to book a place in the semi-finals of men’s doubles event, while in other matches held in the same category, Santosh/Raju beat Shaurya/Sandeep 6-4, Jai/Chinmay beat Nihaal/Akhil L 7-6, Prince/Puneet  beat Jasmeet/Ashwin 6-2, Prince/Punit beat Rehaan/Prithvi 6-1, Ehrlick/ Rahul beat Allan/Ojas 6-1 and Nishad/Anurag beat Prince/Punit 6-1. 

In the boys U-18 category quarter-finals, Punit beat Gaurang, while Shreyas defeated Shaurya with identical scores of 6-0, even as Darsh beat Ethan 6-4 and Vedant beat Arhan 6-2. In the boys U-14 quarterfinals, Vivaan beat Noah 6-1, Arhan beat Devaansh 6-3, Vedant beat Alec 6-2 and Ethan beat Shaurya 6-4.
