Ayush clinches 11th MTCA Chess League title

VASCO: Ayush Shetkar of Vasco RCC clinched the 11th Mormugao Taluka Chess Association (MTCA) Chess League title in the rapid tournament held on July 23, at Ravindra Bhavan, Vasco.

VASCO: Ayush Shetkar of Vasco RCC clinched the 11th Mormugao Taluka Chess Association (MTCA) Chess League title in the rapid tournament held on July 23, at Ravindra Bhavan, Vasco.
Aysuh, the ninth standard student of Deepvihar School, Sada, won six matches and was held to a draw to remain unbeaten in the tournament.
Altogether 74 players from Mormugao taluka participated in the event which was played under the Swiss league system. Ayush has now won two matches in the 12 match series.
Anirudh Parsekar drew with Kiran Chopdekar in last round to settle for the second place. Anirudh finished on six points, whereas Thorat Sanjay, who also finished on six points, had to settle for the third place, after the tie-breaker loss.
Anirudh Parsekar has already won the league by winning five matches. The last match of the league will be held in September 2017. The prizes distribution to league champion and other winners will held in the final match.
Other prize winners:- 4-Datta Kambli (5.5), 5-Kiran Chopdekar (5.5), 6-Rudresh Fadte (5.5), 7-Navin Morejkar (5), 8-Brendon Peroz (5), 9-Sai Kalangutkar (5), 10-Shubh Kalangutkar (5).

Best U-15 Boy: Vedant Naik (5); Girl: Sahana goudar (4).
U-13 Boy: Sahil Desai (5); Girl: Charuta Shetye (4). U-11 Boy: Utkarsh Ganpule (4); Girl: Vrishti Naik (3.5). U-9 Boy: Aditya Tari (4); Girl: Sayed Mahdiya (4); U-7 Boy: Tanish Rane (2); Girl: Naik Drishti (3); U-5 Boy: Salgaonkar Aarush (3).
The prizes were given by chief guest Vivek Gupta entrepreneur, Nilima Gupta and Deepak Gawas Asst Commissioner of Commercial Taxes in the presence of Kishor Bandekar, treasurer of All India Chess Federation and president MTCA, Mukund Kambli secretary of MTCA, Sujan Suktankar treasurer of MTCA, Mukesh Adhia joint secretary of MTCA, Sujit Bandekar, Namrata Shetye, Swapnil Hoble and Vasant Naik vice president of GCA. Swapnil Hoble was the chief Arbiter of the tournament.
The tournament was organised by MTCA under the auspices of Goa Chess Association.
