Babu Brothers clinch Sao Miguel Trophy

PANJIM: Babu Brothers, Tonca-Caranzalem outplayed Alsu Boys, Taleigao 6-5 via sudden death to clinch the Sao Miguel Trophy 2015 organised by Clube Sao Miguel De Taleigao at Dr Remegio Pinto ground, Taleigao, recently.

Alsu Boys led 1-0 at half time. Valencio Estrocio gave an early lead for Alsu Boys with his solo effort dribbling past couple of defenders before unleashing a low drive past rival keeper.
Crossing end, Babu Brothers dominated the proceedings and found the equaliser through Sushank Naik in the 40th minute. 
Moments later, Shubham Morajkar gave Babu Bros the much deserved lead when his curling shot beat the rival keeper.
However, Alsu Boys denied victory for Brothers Caranzalem side and took it to the tie-breaker when Akshay scored the equaliser in the stoppage time.
Both the teams were held to a 2-2 draw in the normal time.
In the resultant tie-breaker, Babu Brothers edged out Alsu Boys 5-4 in the sudden death after the teams were tied in the tie-breaker.
The winners were awarded with a cash prize of Rs 20,000 and a rolling trophy while the runners-up had to be content with Rs 15,000.
Other individual awards: Youngest player of the tournament – Rio D’Souza (Ayush 7), first hat-trick – Ramesh Palkar (Panjim Veterans), highest scorer – Shubham Morajar, best goalkeeper of the tournament – Mehnoodin Shaikh (Babu Bros), best defender – Shankar (Paradise SC), best mid-fielder – Shubham Morajkar (Babu Bros), Best Striker – Sameer Divkar (Odxel SC), best goalkeeper of the final – Xavier (Alsu Boys), Best defender of the final – Karan (Babu Bros), best midfielder of the final – Akshay (Alsu Boys), best striker – Shashank (Babu Bros).
