Bachelors win shoot-out

GUIRDOLIM: Signals Bachelors beat Signal Veterans  9-8 via tie-breaker to mark the occasion of their Foundation Day organised by Youth of Signals, Guirdolim at Signals ground Guirdolim, recently. 
The match was watched by a large crowd who saw both teams attacking right from the word go. Jaffer Yadwad in goal pulled off a brilliant save to deny Akram Yadwad’s powerful long range effort in the 10th minute. 
Signal Veterans took the lead in the 25th minute through their hardworking midfielder Agostinho Antao when he coolly tapped in after being fed by his captain Ean Antao.
 Changing over Bachelor Signals player Irfan Yadwad had 3 shots on target but was denied once by the upright and twice by the ever alert veteran goalkeeper Jaffer who seemed to roll the years back with his excellent saves. 
In the final minute of the match, a rasping drive by Irfan Yadwad gave no chance to the diving Jaffer, thus allowing Bachelors to draw level. 
In the resultant tie-breaker, Cyrus Amla saved the 8th spot kick to give Bachelors victory. 
Chief Guest Sudesh Bhise, Social worker and Businessman gave away the prizes in the presence of Guest of Honour Patwin Fizardo and special invitee Alvaro Braganza Pereira.
  The following individual prizes were awarded: Best goalkeeper: Jaffer Yadwad, Upcoming player: Irfan Yadwad, Player-of-the-match: Ignatius Antao and First scorer of the finals: Agostinho Antao. The winners and runners-up were awarded cash prizes and trophies.
