MAPUSA: BAFF managed to prevail over United Ucassaim SCC by 4-2 margin to enter the semi-finals of the GFA’s Third Division Bardez Zone Play-Off match played at Duler Stadium, here, on Saturday.
In the 14th minute of play, United Ucassaim stunned BAFF table toppers from Group B where Sendy Mangte’s free-kick from outside the penalty box took a deflection of a defender to see the ball sneak into the BAFF goal, 1-0.
However, Sanket Pal not only levelled terms for BAFF in the 39th minute, but put BAFF ahead by scoring in the 45th minute of play.
On crossing over, Sanket Pal, who received the best player award from the hands of Kundan Falari, chairperson of Bicholim Municipal Council completed his hat-trick in the 74th minute with Saish Kavlekar adding his name to the scorers list. However, Sendy Mangte, who had scored the first goal, netted his brace in the 87th minute from the penalty spot beating BAFF keeper Chaitan Sakhalkarto to make it 4-2.
