CALANGUTE: Baina Sports Club prevailed over PVC Association, Parra 4-3 via the tie-breaker after the teams played out a 1-all draw to move into the quarter-finals of Goveia Super Cup inter-village football tournament

organised by Candolim Sports Club at Dr. Gustavo Monteiro Stadium, Candolim, Thursday.

Parra began the match on a promising note and could have taken the lead in the 5th minute but Atish Shirodker missed a sitter with only keeper Xavier at his mercy.  

Joaquim Pacheco finally gave Parra the lead off a free kick in the 15th minute following a handball outside the danger zone.

Trailing by a goal, Baina got their act together and restored parity in the 25th minute through Umar Mutawali.

Changing ends, Parra kept the momentum going and could have regained the lead but Ramchandra effected a goalline save for Baina off Atish in the 50th minute. 

Another opportunity for Parra went abegging as Baina keeper Xavier brought off a superb save off Waldren Martins in the 60th minute.

John Fernandes, Stanley fernandes and Umar Mutawali converted for Baina while Edwin Baretto and Joaquim Pacheco found the mark for Parra in the tie-breaker.
