Baina sink UYC in a thriller

MARGAO: Baina Sports Club defeated United Youth Club Bogmalo 3-2 in GFA's Under-18 Second Division league match at Utorda ground, on Tuesday. Baina led 3-2 at half time.

MARGAO: Baina Sports Club defeated United Youth Club Bogmalo 3-2 in GFA’s Under-18 Second Division league match at Utorda ground, on Tuesday. Baina led 3-2 at half time.
Baina started the game on an attacking note and kept the opponents on the back foot and took the lead in the 6th minute when Clayson Pereira bulged the net. Stung by the setback, UYC regrouped quickly and took the fight to the rival camp and in the 12th minute Nelson Carvalho neutralized the lead with snap shot.
Spurred by the equalizer, UYC intensified their attacks and troubled the rival defence with well orchestrated raids. Nelson struck for second time to give his team 2-1 cushion in the 19th minute.
Stunned by the deficit, Baina switched into attacking mode and Rojer Branca restored parity in the 31st minute. Their continuous pressure was rewarded when Roger Colaco struck the match winner at the stroke of half time.
Crossing over, both the teams adopted an aggressive approach but the defenders stood strong and protected their citadel.
In the other match at Cansaulim Sports Complex, a fine brace by striker Romeo Moura helped Sao Jose de Areal Sports Club trounce Rising Star Club 5-1 after leading 2-1 at half time.
Sao Jose de Areal Sports Club were a dominant lot and pressured their rivals throughout the match. Nitish Pawar opened the scoring in the 4th minute when he slotted past the rival goalkeeper with stiff shot. The early goal boosted the morale of Sao Jose players as they piled tremendous pressure on the rival citadel. Darryl Costa doubled the lead in the 16th minute. 
After the break, Sao Jose continued to enjoy the better share of exchanges. Romeo Moura struck twice in the 43rd and 71st minute to register his hat trick. Prisco Moura drove the last nail into rival coffin in the 76th minute. Rising Star Club reduced the deficit late in the second half.
At Duler Stadium, St. Sebastian SC, Mapusa defeated Bastora USCC, 5-2.
